Lots of exciting changes for this second year of our Book Faire!
First of all, you'll see we've had a name change. Since the exact geographic center of California is in Madera County, and our previous name seemed to omit our foothill and mountain authors, we decided it needed to be updated. We are now moving forward as the Heart of California Book Faire!
Second, we've changed venues. The author survey responses we received from last year's faire indicated most would prefer a single large space for the event rather than grouping authors into smaller rooms.
To accommodate the authors' preference, this year's faire will be held in the large hall at the Madera United Methodist Church.
Third, we are adding programming to this year's faire! The change in location allows us the opportunity to host author discussion panels and author readings in a room separate from the main book-selling hall. This gives attendees a chance to get to know the authors and listen to passages from select books.
We are also engaging in a widespread PR campaign involving TV, radio, newspapers, libraries, local businesses, and social media throughout the communities of Madera, Fresno, Merced, and beyond. Our goal is to spread the word far and wide to bring readers to this event from all over Central California.
